Usher visits downtown Detroit with Dan Gilbert

Usher may be making a stop at the Palace of Auburn Hills tomorrow as part of his fall tour, but the R&B star took a smaller — albeit, equally important — tour today through downtown Detroit.

His guide? The billionaire developer and Usher’s partner in the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, Dan Gilbert.

Gilbert, who owns a significant portion of real estate downtown, personally accompanied the “Climax” singer as they visited several of his buildings, including the Chrysler House, dPOP!, the Detroit Institute of Music Education, and the Cube and First National buildings.

Usher graciously took photos with fans throughout his visit and expressed interest in contributing to Detroit’s burgeoning cultural community. The R&B singer also sat down to casually play a DIME drum kit, and signed a decorative frame on the wall of a DIME practice room.
