Stevie Wonder announces “Songs in the Key of Life” tour, Detroit-area performance

Motown legend Stevie Wonder has announced an 11-stop tour celebrating his classic double-album Songs in the Key of Life, in addition to his first Detroit-area performance in more than five years.

Wonder’s upcoming tour stop will mark his first performance in the Detroit-area since his 2008 North American tour, which stopped at DTE Energy Music Theatre. He is scheduled to perform at the Palace of Auburn Hills on November 20, and will revisit Songs in the Key of Life in its entirety.

The 1976 Tamla release includes some of Wonder’s biggest hits, including: “Sire Duke,” “I Wish,” “Isn’t She Lovely,” “Another Star,” “As” and countless others. The album was awarded four Grammy Awards (nominated for seven) and quickly became Wonder’s best-selling and most critically acclaimed release. Songs in the Key of Life has since been inducted into the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress.

Tickets for the November 20 performance at the Palace will be made available online September 22, at 10 AM. (Citi Bank cardholders will be able to purchase tickets Tuesday, at 10AM through the bank’s “Private Pass” program.)
