Last week, Detroit rapper Eminem announced the upcoming release of “SHADY CXVPHER” featuring Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse (Royce Da 5’9″, Crooked I, Joe Budden, and Joell Ortiz). This cypher — which was filmed to promote the forthcoming compilation album Shady XV — dropped this afternoon, just a few days later than initially expected. Even with the delay, the video promises to fuel anticipation for the fifteen-year anniversary of Shady Records and the new LP.
At nearly nineteen minutes, the cypher allows plenty of time for each of the featured rappers to show off his skills sans instrumental backing but against a local backdrop appropriate to his respective hometown. Though this video would be a thrilling display of hip-hop artists at the top of their game, the fact that there’s a whole album behind the effort lends the proceedings an unmistakable air of excitement. The double-disc compilation, Shady XV, comes out on November 24.
