A Jack White tribute album, scheduled for release on November 18, will include some of rock-n’-roll’s most legendary names performing the Detroit-native’s music. Appropriately, the album’s cover artwork pays homage to the early culture of roots rock-n’-roll, rockabilly and country music.

The album, Rockin’ Legends Pay Tribute to Jack White, features rockabilly goddess Wanda Jackson, who recreates the White Stripes’ “In the Cold, Cold Night” with the help of Shooter Jennings, Gary U.S. Bonds’ version of “Salute Your Solution” and Johnny Powers’ reworked “Fly Farm Blues.” Chris Spedding and Robert Gordon also team-up to deliver a multi-genre-inspired alternative of “Another Way to Die.”

In contrast to most tribute-focused albums, White’s own compositions have been reconsidered by the same artists that influenced his initial style, instrumentation and love for music. While many tribute projects solely include new performers examining old favorites, White’s tribute offers a unique opportunity for music pioneers to embrace the evolution of their contributions.

“When I heard ‘Cold, Cold Night’ for the first time, I knew it was a song that I wanted to record someday,” Jackson said to Rolling Stone.

“When the opportunity came around to pay tribute to Jack on this album, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to lay it down in the studio. I’m very pleased with how it turned out and I hope Jack approves of the job we did.”

While the timeless influence of artists such as W.S. “Fluke” Holland and Bobby Vee remain the focus of the album, the compilation will also showcase the work of contemporary acts such as Los Straitjackets, The Dirt Daubers and Rejected Youth Nation.
