Ro Spit, Detroit emcee and sneaker aficionado, has released a visual compliment to “Bout That Life” – a track from his early 2013 Monochrome EP.
The four-track EP was released in association with Burn Rubber: the hip hop titan’s highly-publicized shoe and clothing boutique’s web-series. “Shine,” the Monochrome EP‘s opening track, was used as the series’ theme song.
The EP’s second track, “Bout That Life,” released its own visual component last evening, catching Detroit’s hip hop community off-guard. The Shot-Selection-directed video breathes new life into the 9-month-old track with the help of Ella Deluxe, an array of firearms and Burn Rubber’s fashion-forward product line.
Ella Deluxe, a female emcee and model, lip-syncs Ro’s anthem while pouring Grey Goose vodka, flashing jewelry and brandishing a “Ro Spit” baseball cap – all backed by a heavily-armed group of models. Ro Spit remains completely absent from the visual piece.
The video provides a simplified, yet well-delivered execution of personal branding through a second party’s representation. Ro Spit has nominated Ella Deluxe to share this particular message and she does so with style, confidence, and sex appeal.
