Miami rapper Rick Ross was scheduled to headline Saturday’s Summer Jamz 17, but a conflict regarding Detroit’s infamous ‘No Fly Zone’ prompted a mob of approximately 100 individuals barring him from entering Chene Park.

The mob, which is thought to have been led by Detroit’s self-proclaimed mayor Trick Trick, was a result of neglecting the Detroit-rapper’s rule regarding gaining permission to make large amounts of money for performing in the city. Many have speculated the existence of the ‘No Fly Zone’ in Detroit, but Ross’ situation has shed new light on the fabled process.

Detroit radio station Hot 107.5 FM program director Jeremiah Hicks announced the issue to fans awaiting Ross’ performance late Saturday night at Chene Park. He cited that Ross had been in “fear for his life,” and “may never come back to Detroit again.” Trick Trick has not yet commented on the ‘No Fly Zone’ or Saturday’s confrontation at Summer Jamz 17.

Rick Ross commented on the altercation via Twitter saying, “heard it wuz a peace protest wit picket signs and locked gates.” Video footage of the event proves differently.
