Kraftwerk 3-D to headline 10-year anniversary of Movement

Months after a rare performance at The Masonic Temple, it was announced today that German electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk will make history with a first-ever appearance at the 10th anniversary of the Movement Electronic Music Festival. The GRAMMY® Lifetime Achievement Award recipients will headline the event, which takes place Memorial Day weekend, May 28–30, 2016, inside Detroit’s legendary Hart Plaza. Organizers Paxahau Events also announced the phase one lineup for the festival.

Making their debut at Movement will be Dan Snaith’s Caribou, Four Tet, Âme (DJ set), and The Black Madonna, among others. Also new this year is an Acid Stage, which will showcase the acid house genre, including its creator (and part of Phuture) DJ Pierre, Germany’s Boys Noize, and festival veteran Nina Kraviz.

Detroit is well-represented in phase one, too — from veterans to rising stars. Carl Craig will return with his Detroit Love showcase, as will Kevin Saunderson and his ORIGINS showcase. Juan Atkins and Moritz von Oswald will perform together as Borderland, while Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson, and Lee Curtiss will perform for Visionquest’s five-year anniversary. Other Detroit artists include Richie Hawtin, Stacey Pullen, and Will Sessions feat. Amp Fiddler.

Movement will also partner with Red Bull Music Academy Radio to launch the #MovementMarathon series, with live recordings and interviews with artists featured on this year’s lineup. Tune in on RBMARadio.com starting at 6 p.m. Eastern today. See below for full schedule:
