In 1974, the Cadillac High School Vikings won seven consecutive games and became football conference co-champs in Michigan. The team’s choice of pre-competition locker room music: KISS.

Once word of the Vikings’ pre-game rituals reached the rock group itself, the four band members made a historical visit to Cadillac Michigan, where they hosted a performance for the high school’s homecoming dance.  The self-proclaimed “Hottest Band in the World,” KISS, landed their helicopter on school property, spent time with face-painted students (and staff) – and in the process, helped to write one of rock-n’-roll’s most outrageous stories.

That story, titled Cadillac High, is being brought to the big screen, as announced by KISS frontman Gene Simmons, and will include shot locations in Cadillac, Detroit and Pontiac, according to reports by MLive.

The project was submitted for state approval, seeking conditional tax incentives for filming in the state (approved in 2012), and looks to create more than 200 jobs in Michigan, in addition to spending approximately $27 million for production in the area.

Currently, there is no timeline established for the filming or release of Cadillac High, but Simmons has assured media outlets that the film is currently in “pre-production.”
