Detroit’s own Jack White shared a new track Friday from Lazaretto, his upcoming sophomore solo LP from Third Man Records. “Just One Drink” is the third cut he’s revealed ahead of the June 10th album release.
Unlike the previously-released instrumental number “High Ball Stepper,” “Just One Drink” kicks off with fuzzed-out, bluesy guitar riff, before White sings “You drink water / I drink gasoline.”
Only two years ago White was sitting and drinking perfume on Blunderbuss’ “Sixteen Saltines”; however, White’s latest sounds refer back to the days of the saloon. Old-timey fiddle, rockabilly piano, soulful female backing vocals, and a lick of 70s southern-fried boogie hint White has stepped firmly out of the garage and is primed to become a future staple of classic rock radio.
