Jack White announces break from live performing for "long period of time"

Just three days after a career-spanning set at Coachella, Jack White has announced that he will take a break from live performing… “for a long period of time.”

According to a Facebook post by Third Man Records, White has decided to lay low after years of touring with multiple configurations, but will embark on a five-stop U.S. tour before hanging up his guitar. Not only will this tour be special by marking his live performance hiatus, but the 39-year-old Detroit-native has also declared that the mini U.S. tour will be completely acoustic – only amplified by ribbon microphones.

These performances will be announced the day of the show at “8 a.m. local time,” with ticket prices set at $3 (one ticker per-person). Tickets for these coveted tour stops will be made available at each performance’s venue doors, starting at 12 p.m., on the day of each show. First come, first served. “Cash only.”

White’s affinity for the analog world has never been so clear. Cash only tickets. Fans lining up at the venue doors… It’s safe to say that the “Willy Wonka of music” is having some fun before giving himself a well-deserved break.
