Next month marks the third annual Hamtramck Music Festival. This three-day event brings together more than 200 bands across 24 Detroit-area venues. HMF is “powered by the people” as the musicians and organizers are all volunteers. Three-day wristbands are just $10, and all proceeds go to the nonprofit group Ben’s Encore, which provides instruments, music lessons, and scholarships to youth and school music programs.
HMF also caters to all ages with daytime performances for family audiences, as well as numerous shows for the adult crowd (18+). The festival kicks off on Thursday, March 3 with a fowling warehouse party and nine bands performing between two stages. The music continues Friday and Saturday at venues such as Elijah’s, 7 Brothers, Hamtramck Public Library, Kelly’s, New Dodge Lounge, Paycheck’s, and many more. The weekend caps off with a Sunday brunch at PLAV Post #10 featuring merchandise and square dancing.
The lineup is absolutely massive and offers an unparalleled collection of Detroit artists. From Duane the Brand New Dog and Detroit Techno Militia to Growwing Pains, James Linck, and Valley Hush, Hamtramck Music Festival is guaranteed to cater to all tastes.
