Detroit’s infamous hip-hop opera 8 Mile will soon enjoy a public screening at one of the film’s most iconic locations – the once glorious Michigan Theatre.
On May 30, the former Michigan Theatre (now being utilized as an indoor parking garage) will host a public screening of the 2002 film, which stars Eminem as a young rapper named “Rabbit.” The semi-biopic filmed multiple scenes inside the theater, which was staged as a rap battle venue for the flick.
The screening is free to the public, but attendees are asked to bring their own seating. The event will offer concessions for purchase through Niki’s Pizza (Greektown), which is also owned by Detroit investor Dennis Kefallinos.
