Eminem sued over unlicensed “Rap God” sample

Detroit’s rap almighty, Eminem, is being accused of using an unlicensed sample within his 2013 tongue-twisting hit “Rap God,” according to reports by TMZ.

 

The sample in question is a clip from Chicago-based rap group Hotstylz’s 2007 smash single “Lookin Boy.” Members of the group, Krazee, Meatball and Raydio G, claim that a selection of the track can be heard halfway through Slim Shady’s MMLP2 single.

 

Shortly following the release of “Rap God,” Hotstylz unveiled a retaliatory diss track titled “Rap Fraud,” addressing the alleged sample theft. But, unsatisfied, Raymond Jones (a.k.a. Raydio G) has decided to sue both Eminem and Shady Records for a hefty $8 million.
