Marshall Mathers is truly masterful with a mic in his hand. From silly, mile-a-minute rhymes to gritty autobiographical stories, the Detroit emcee covers the entire spectrum of a great hip-hop artist.
Now fans can get a little more insight straight from the source, via the popular annotation website Genius, formerly known as Rap Genius. The website, which last year received an investment of $40 million from Detroit developer Dan Gilbert, usually crowdsources its notes from thousands of users who share their interpretations of verses from the genre’s greatest artists.
Users can now read Eminem’s personal account of forty of his own songs as well as his take on others artists’ tracks. The verified profile also features an in-depth look at Em’s process behind writing rhymes and picking beats, what was going through his mind while filming 8 Mile, and where he stands on the Biggie/Tupac war.
