In 2013, Elzhi launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance the follow-up to 2011’s exceptional Elmatic. The campaign was incredibly successful and supported by 708 fans who contributed a total of $37,382, but we’ve heard little from the talented Detroit rapper since, much to the dismay of all of those anxiously awaiting his newest endeavor.
“P.S.” is the check-in we’ve been waiting for — a thoughtful, introspective account of what’s been going on with Elzhi. The piano-driven beat creates a soulful foundation for the emcee’s sincere rapping about his tribulations, doubts, and fears. Ultimately, his message is an uplifting one, as the hardships he’s faced are what stokes his creativity. The spark we hear in “P.S.” is just the first glimpse of what’s sure to be a full-blown fire in his upcoming album Lead Poison.
