New Year’s Eve gives people around the globe the opportunity to celebrate the past while looking to the future. This year, there’s no better place to do that than at Detroit’s own Orchestra Hall, where the Detroit Symphony Orchestra will perform “The Music of Prince.”

The DSO will ring in 2017 by honoring the prolific works of The Purple One, performing an array of the late artist’s many smash hits, including “Little Red Corvette,” “Purple Rain,” “Raspberry Beret,” and “When Doves Cry.” Guest conductor Brent Havens arranged the pieces for the orchestra and will lead their efforts.

Tickets will be available soon on the DSO’s website. If you can’t cop a seat for the black-tie affair, fear not; the DSO is partnering with Detroit Public Television to broadcast the entire event live, so all of us will be able to party like it’s 1999.
