After three successful years at Comerica Park, Detroit’s premier country music festival, Downtown Hoedown, is moving to West Riverfront Park at Jefferson Avenue and 10th Street, just west of the Riverfront Apartments and Joe Louis Arena. The event is being reduced from three days to two, as well, though with headliners like Darius Rucker (June 5) and Rascal Flatts (June 6), it is still sure to draw a sizable crowd.

Producers of the WYCD-FM (99.5)-sponsored event made the announcement Thursday morning. The festival launched in 1983 and had been held in Hart Plaza annually, except for the past three years, when it was hosted in the parking lot of Comerica Park. This year’s Hoedown will also feature performances by Brett Eldredge, Brothers Osborne, A Thousand Horses, Old Dominion, and Cam on June 5, with Eli Young Band, Jana Kramer, Drake White, Ashley Monroe, Craig Wayne Boyd, LoCash Cowboys, Striking Matches, and Michael Ray performing on June 6.

The festival will run from 4:00 to 11:00 p.m. on June 5 and from noon to 11:00 p.m. on June 6. Tickets are $35 per day or $49.50 for two-day passes; they go on sale at 10:00 a.m. March 13 through ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster locations, or without a service fee through the Joe Louis Arena and Fox Theater box offices and Hockeytown Authentics in Troy For more information, visit WYCD-FM’s website.
