Two years after it was filmed, The Pleasure of Sound is now available to stream worldwide. The brief documentary features a meeting between accomplished electronic artist and Ghostly co-founder Matthew Dear and Radiolab’s Jad Abumrad.

The film, a collaborative effort made possible by local public radio station WDET, Mikel Ellcessor, and Ghostly International, was filmed and edited by Detroit-based production company The Work. It documents Dear and Abumrad’s 48-hour encounter, during which they discuss what motivates their musical process and what it means to create.

The Pleasure of Sound offers a unique perspective on what fuels creativity. The beautiful filming, editing, and scoring are added bonuses, resulting in an elegant, insightful final product. The spirit of inspiration and collaboration encapsulated by the film are most aptly summarized by Dear: “There’s no right or wrong answer. Let’s just get together and do something. And it’s for the sake of creation.”
