Next year’s July 4th weekend will mark the return of Detroit’s infamous techno gathering – DEMF (Detroit Electronic Music Festival).

On Wednesday the DEMF team announced the creation of two new techno-based events: the first being a free festival at Campus Martius under the DEMF moniker. The second event will be a completely separate festival: the Federation of Electronic Music Technology (FEMT), set to be held at Ford Field.

FEMT will feature Detroit artists such as Juan Atkins and Underground Resistance, as well as 48 others. Tickets will cost attendees $300 for General admission, and $1,500 for VIP tickets beginning Friday, November 22. Until this time, tickets are available at a reduced rate through Ford Field’s website. A full set-list is expected by January 1.

DEMF’s performances will feature more than 100 artists. The free event looks to bring the once Hart Plaza-housed celebration to downtown’s center.

Detroit’s Movement festival, not to be confused with DEMF or FEMT, will continue, unrelated to the addition of the two new festivals. However, techno enthusiasts will have more than one festival to choose from for the first time in Detroit’s electronic music history.
