A jump to a major label hasn’t caused DeJ Loaf to rest on her laurels. The Detroit emcee best known for her surprise chart-topping single “Try Me” released the mixtape Sell Sole this fall to widespread acclaim and made an appearance on Eminem’s “Detroit Vs. Everybody.” Now, with mere days left in 2014, she’s closing out the year with a new video.
The Be El Be-directed clip for “Blood” features Birdman and Young Thug alongside the Motor City rapper and is less gritty than it is flossy. The three MCs are shown flaunting their crispy lifestyle in even crisper film stock, with scenes taking place both in a gilded mansion and a glowing club. The backdrop, appropriately enough, is Detroit’s skyline. If there’s a better video yet to be made that can lay claim to the visual coronation of a rising star, its time’s running out.
