Detroit’s own Big Sean (and his Motor City-native tour DJ and FM98 WJLB house maestro DJ Mo Beatz) appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s last taping of the Tonight Show before a brief Christmas recess, Tuesday, with some help from hip hop giant E-40.
Big Sean’s Tonight Show appearance was preceded by guests Jerry Seinfeld (who staged a short schtick on consumerism) and popular British vocal group One Direction. In addition to DJ Mo Beatz’s turntable exhibition, the live performance featured the accompaniment of Jimmy Fallon’s famed house band The Roots.
The two emcees performed their joint chart-topping hit “I Don’t Fuck With You (IDFWU),” which reached the number one spot on Billboard’s US Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs and US Hot Rap Songs, in addition to reaching number 11 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and becoming gold-certified in late 2014.
“IDFWU” will appear on Big Sean’s upcoming (and, so far, untitled) new album, which is expected to be released sometime in 2015. The track’s official video was delivered in November 2014 and features a football-themed storyline, including a cameo by “coach” Kanye West and sports commentator E-40.
