The Hollywood Vampires are back from the (un)dead. Detroit-native shock rocker Alice Cooper has announced the formation of a new supergroup with actor Johnny Depp and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry called The Hollywood Vampires. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Cooper’s used it before, to refer to his notorious posse of drinking buddies including John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon, and Ringo Starr at L.A.’s Rainbow Bar and Grill from the ’70s.
According to Alice Cooper’s Instagram, this new incarnation already have a big gig lined up: a main stage spot at The Rock in Rio festival, where they’ll share the bill with System of a Down, Queens of the Stone Age, as well as the newly reunited Faith No More. So far this is the only tour date the group have scheduled, but they have recorded an album.
The Rock in Rio festival takes place September 19 – 27 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. More information can be found here.
