First, NYC-based emcee/producer El-P and Altanta rapper Killer Mike came together to bring us Run the Jewels, which was followed a year later by a sequel — aptly named Run the Jewels 2. Then they promised and delivered Meow the Jewels, a cat-sampling remix version of their sophomore album. And now, this unlikely but dynamic duo have done it again.

In celebration of the one-year anniversary of Run the Jewels 2 and to commemorate the last stop on their US tour, El-P and Killer Mike will play host to #TagTheJewels, a FREE art exhibition at Inner State Gallery in Detroit’s historic Eastern Market District on Saturday, October 24 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

#TagTheJewels is an international street art initiative that began last year in conjunction with RTJ2‘s release. The exhibition features more than 30 graffiti artists from around the world who were asked to create their own interpretation of the album’s cover art. Large works have been spotted on the streets of Los Angeles, Chicago, São Paulo, Paris, Warsaw, Lagos, New Dehli, Jakarta, Auckland, and more.

More than 20 mural photos will be on display, and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the local nonprofit Art Road. Art Road provides special arts activity classes, including supplies and an instructor, at no cost to Detroit elementary schools that lack art programs.

El-P and Killer Mike will make a special appearance at the event, and fans can stop by the gallery for a chance to meet the duo in person. A brand new Run the Jewels-inspired #TagTheJewels mural by local Detroit artists Elmer and Jesse Kassel will also be unveiled just around the corner from Inner State Gallery. In addition, Detroit’s own Nick Speed will perform a live DJ set.

1xRUN will also be releaseing a limited edition #TagTheJewels print signed by El-P and Killer Mike, which will be released in-store Saturday as well as online. Exclusive RTJ merchandise will be available for purchase on-site. Beverages will also be provided.

Run the Jewels will perform later that night at the Royal Oak Music Theatre, along with Boots, Fashawn, and Cuz Lightyear. Doors for the show are at 8:00 p.m. with advance tickets available for $25 and $35 at the door.
