No rap video would be complete without cash, crews, and confidence. Detroit’s favorite rap diva Dej Loaf has all three in her new video for “Like a Hoe.” In the DDS-produced song, a one-off released in early June, Dej condemns men for their “hoe-ish” tendencies while simultaneously reasserting her own seemingly tireless confidence.
The video was directed by Jerry Production and employs both solitary shots of the artist with stacks of money and posse shots of her all-male entourage (including fellow Detroit rapper Oba Rowland) as Dej stands front and center commanding attention. The straightforward nature of the video coupled with Dej’s infectious swagger leaves one thing for certain: this girl is not to be messed with.
After a busy summer that included the release of an EP, collaborations with multiple big names, and an opening slot on Nicki Minaj’s Pinkprint tour, “Like a Hoe” and its accompanying video prove that Dej is still moving full steam ahead and looking awesome in overalls while doing it.
