Growwing Pains announce EP, share title track “I Always Know”

GP Interview 009

With the release of their debut full-length, 17 Songs About the Same Girl, last year, Growwing Pains established their staying power among the innumerable young punks in the city. The album was released by label Urinal Cake Records, home to such Detroit mainstays as Terrible Twos and Feelings, and the band toured around the country (including a stop at Jack White’s Third Man SXSW showcase) in support of it.

Newly released single “I Always Know” is taken off Growwing Pains new EP of the same name, due out August 25 from Volar Records. During the brief track, the band’s bright melodies and keys are still evident as is the energy behind Zak Bratto’s vocals. Here’s what he had to say about their upcoming effort:

I think this new stuff is just kind of a result of us actually starting to care about the lyrical content of our songs instead of just the phonetic aspect of it. We’ve grown a lot as a band and as friends in the past year, and as a result I think we’re more interested in actually sitting down and writing a final product, not just going nuts. We still like to keep it pretty bare-bones as far as song structure goes, but we’re definitely putting more time and positive creative energy into our newer stuff.
