KMS, the record label started by Detroit techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson in 1987, has been reissuing seminal works on vinyl over the past several years. These include Saunderson’s Just Want Another Chance (made famous by its signature “Reese” bassline), as well as releases by MK, Chez N Trent, and Kreem (the duo of Saunderson and Juan Atkins).
Now the imprint is beginning a new initiative – compiling and reissuing key remixes in a three-volume series due out this spring. The first two editions will feature remixes by Ron Trent and Chez Damier (as Chez N Trent), produced between 1993 and 1995, including tracks such as “The Choice” and “Morning Factory,” as well as works by Sonya Blade and Miller/Scott Project.
Volume Two will include Chez N Trent takes on Kreem’s “Now Is the Time,” Inner City’s “Share My Life,” Naomi Daniel’s “Feel the Fire,” and Esser’ay’s “Forces.” The latter two songs are being reworked by Carl Craig on the third volume, which also features his rendition of Inner City’s “Ahnnonghay.”
