Hometown hero Eminem has contributed a banging verse to Shady Records member Yelawolf’s new track “Best Friend.”
The younger rapper opts for mellow crooning over an easygoing beat with a rootsy vibe that emphasizes his Southern origins. His heartfelt reflections gain some much needed edge when Marshall Mathers comes in with an unexpected departure from Yela’s laid-back lamentations. Em is relatively subdued to start, but gradually increases his intensity and ends the verse forcefully, his staccato flow tight and consistent through the whole thing.
According to an interview with Complex, Eminem is the only featured artist on Yelawolf’s sophomore album Love Story, which drops April 21. Check out “Best Friend” below:
