Three Detroit artists featured on Nirvana covers album

In preparation for a Nirvana covers album, the blog Pigeons & Planes reached out to Detroit rapper and visual artist ZelooperZ to provide the cover art. In response, he sent the publication the requested art (which you can see above), but he also included a bonus (surprise!) rendition of Nirvana’s “Negative Creep.”

ZelooperZ’s cover, which he’s titled “Negative Creepz” features the rapper’s manic howl and rough-hewn production from Bulletproof Dolphin. It’s a gloriously off-the-wall cover that Kurt Cobain — whose birthday is today — would have approved.

In addition, two other Detroit artists are featured on Teenage Angst Has Paid Off Well — cosmic-trap duo Gosh Pith and singer-songwriter JMSN. The former turn in a moody interpretation of “School” from Nirvana’s debut album Bleach, while JMSN delivers a stirring performance of “Rape Me.”
