If many hands make light work, then the sixth studio full-length from ADULT. might well end up becoming their liveliest album. However, one look at the roster of collaborators that Detroit’s foremost electroclash duo have enlisted to help them record their upcoming LP should cast aside such impressions. Detroit House Guests, as the release will be titled, takes its name from the six artists Adam Lee Miller and Nicola Kubera will invite into their home to work on this new project.
The musicians they’ve assembled are all remarkable, most notably Swans’ maestro Michael Gira, Nitzer Ebb’s Douglas J. McCarthy, and Light Asylum’s vocalist Shannon Funchess. Rounding out the list are Lichens’ Robert Aiki Aubrew Lowe, Les Sewing Sisters’ Lun*na Menoh, and NY Theremin Society’s Dorit Chrysler.
The project hopes to “build on Detroit’s rich musical legacy by bringing outside musicians to experience and interact with Detroit and its community.” This will take the form of giving the guests a full tour of Detroit, throwing a welcoming party with local artists and musicians, and offering public performances. ADULT. also plan to share a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the entire process via their social media outlets to “bring more positive attention to the city through the arts.”
Detroit House Guests has funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and is expected to arrive in late 2015 / early 2016 on Ghostly International.
