With news of the Sony Pictures hacking scandal dominating press coverage and music publications busy with end-of-year lists, it might have appeared that an album leak could slip by unnoticed. But when you’re talking about the Queen of Pop, that’s just not possible. This morning, reports surfaced that thirteen new tracks from the entirety of a yet-to-be-announced upcoming Madonna album – rumored to be titled either Unapologetic Bitch or Iconic – had appeared online.
The Detroit native had been working on a new record for some time now but had yet to put out any official statement about the follow-up to 2012’s MDNA or its release date. It was reported that she was collaborating with everyone from Diplo and Avicii to Blood Diamonds and Ariel Pink to Natalia Kills and Ryan Tedder.
Today’s leak comes in the wake of multiple unauthorized ones, albeit on a smaller scale, which led to the singer’s manager, Guy Oseary to tweet to the public: “I would be grateful to any Madonna fans that can assist us in finding those responsible for the leak. We appreciate your help.” In an Instagram post, the musician said the leaked songs are “unfinished demos stolen long ago and not ready to be presented to the world,” and thanked fans for “not listening” to these versions.
