Detroit’s own Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas made their television debut this week, when the group appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman Monday evening.
The band performed “Sorry I Stole Your Man,” a track from their new album Secret Evil, which blends jazz, soul, rock and the powerful Motown-sound voice of Jessica Hernandez. “We have a winner, ladies and gentlemen. I enjoyed that,” said Letterman after the performance.
Hernandez grew up in the Metro-Detroit area, but with strong ties to the city of Detroit. Her band, The Deltas, are all Wayne State alumni and her parents are the owners of Armando’s restaurant and Mexicantown Bakery in Detroit. In addition to performing, Hernandez supports Detroit’s vibrant music scene with regular visits to the Majestic Complex’s Garden Bowl, and PJ’s Lager House.
