Urinal Cake Records release Rebel Kind’s “Today” on vinyl

Rebel Kind make hip-swaying tunes that are better suited for AM radio than laptop speakers.

The group comprises three women who have had their fair share of musical success in Metro Detroit’s garage rock scene (Bad Indians, Tyvek, Swimsuit). Chief songwriter Autumn Wetli lays down thick sheets of guitar fuzz, crooning about her perpetual unluckiness and all the jerks in this cruel world. Amber Fellows and Shelley Salant join her in creating this exciting sonic racket.

 

Today, produced by Fred Thomas of Saturday Looks Good to Me, was originally released on cassette and only available for purchase directly from Rebel Kind. The album recently received the vinyl treatment from Urinal Cake Records, a label that consistently puts out the sludgiest, most beer-fueled jams in Detroit.
