New York rap legend Nas surprised listeners at a Run The Jewels listening party (promoting the release of their new album RTJ2) when he asked permission to debut a brand-new track.
The “new” track, titled “The Season,” bears the production of the one-and-only J Dilla, suppling a lyrical accompaniment to “Gobstopper,” from the late producer’s masterpiece – Donuts. The original J Dilla instrumental, which Nas has paired with pristine vocals, features a horn-ladened sample of Luther Ingram’s “To The Other Man” (1970).
