In an effort to raise awareness for Detroit’s right to vote, Detroit’s-own Big Sean and self-proclaimed mayor Trick Trick will host an evening of high-level political discussion, candidate education and local music.
The community event, coined “Sound Over Silence,” will be sponsored by Detroit’s ASSEMBLE, Vote Detroit, AIDS Partnership Michigan, and Common Cause MI, in an effort to bypass “political skepticism, and years of non-participation.” From the official event description:
“We’re not going to scream “Yes We Can” or paint mustaches on presidential cut-outs (unless you want to?), but we are going to get together and get to know some candidates while celebrating our right to vote.”
In addition to Big Sean and Trick Trick, the ‘Sound Over Silence’ will offer performances by Detroit’s own Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Cold Men Young, and pop-Motown group El Dee. The free event will be held at the Majestic Theatre, at 7:30PM, October 2.
