The 17th-annual Arts, Beats & Eats festival in Royal Oak (Aug. 29 – Sept. 1) has announced its robust performance schedule, which includes nationally-acclaimed stars, up-and-comers and local legends performing on 10 stages.
The Detroit-area’s largest art, food and music event features more than 200 music acts, 135 art vendors and a whopping 50 participating area restaurants, including favorites such as Green Lantern Pizzeria, Famous Dave’s BBQ, Morton’s The Steakhouse, Mitchell’s Fish Market, Andiamo Pizza Pie and others. Art vendors will be awarded approximately $7,500 in cash prizes over the 2014 Labor Day weekend, as booths will showcase local pieces-for-sale and mini-exhibitions.
Art and food aside, the draw for many attendees is the ever-impressive music lineup for Arts, Beats & Eats, and 2014 boasts one of the largest and most prominent to date. Notable acts, include: .38 Special, Village People, Third Eye Blind, Loverboy, Flint Eastwood, Jena Irene (American Idol contestant from Detroit-area), Jeff Gutt, Corktown Popes, Dragon Wagon, Ryan Dillaha and the Miracle Men, Cadillac Kidz, The Whiskey Charmers, Nessa (Celtic Fusion), Raion Taiko (Japanese Drum), BOP (funk/reggae), Killer Flamingos, The Appleseed Collective, Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings Brass Quintet (Classical), Hatchetmen, The Infatuations, Howling Diablos, The Jill Jack Band and others.
