Students of southeast Michigan’s Grosse Pointe Music Academy gained national attention after a video of their tragic cover of Weezer’s “Undone” took YouTube by storm.
The members of the adolescent Rubber Band are the focus of the YouTube video in which an equipment malfunction stops their performance early, and suddenly. The four piece group had only began their rendition of Weezer’s “Undone” (Blue Album) for Grosse Pointe Music Academy’s spring recital, but the video’s accompanying awkwardness is everlasting.
After the band’s jarring halt, a seemingly witty teacher makes mention of the Rubber Band’s groundbreaking strategy. Grosse Pointe Music Academy parents can also be heard cheering for the stunned group after their mishap.
The video has been shared by Yahoo! News, Time, and countless other media outlets, along with none other than the band which inspired the tragic performance – Weezer. The band tweeted the video to its fans on June 20 saying, “some are saying this cover of Undone went horribly wrong – we say its the best version we’ve ever seen!”
