In celebration of his self-run label FXHE Records’ tenth anniversary, the notoriously cryptic Detroit house producer Omar S is releasing the second in a series of mix CDs, due out next month.
Omar S first announced this project in January to Juno Plus, stating his intention of including previously released material from the considerable FXHE archives so that it could reach “people who might had [sic] miss out on some shit they might have slept on.”
The debut 16-track mix included label hits from Omar S, as well as Jason Fine, Luke Hess, and OB Ignitt. The second edition also features 16 cuts but will consist exclusively of material from Omar S himself, spanning from 2005’s Just Ask the Lonely to later releases. The selections were mixed entirely on vinyl, and the compilation is due out on June 1. Omar S has also kept busy recording new music; in March, he released the double-pack Romancing the Stone.
