Detroit heavy-soul duo Silent Lions have released a visual accompaniment to their January 2014 The Compartments track “Runnin’ Me Down.”
The Matt Klein-directed video features a seemingly possessed young woman (Renee Granados) alone in her apartment interpretively dancing in frustration, anger, and eventually – exhaustion. The harsh, spiraling camera techniques capture the dark musical elements of Silent Lions’ track, as well as the final built-up energy of the song’s climax.
Rooted in Toledo, the “Hall and Oates stoner rock” group have made a home in the Motor City. Their combination of blues-rock, R&B and dark soul conjures a lo-fi sound, but seamlessly integrates the contemporary elements of heavy bass and synth driven melodies.
