DATSWOTSUP! kicks off their new, monthly Thursday-night show at The Works with another huge UK performance. The promotional imprint is scheduled to bring UK grime star Plastician back to the Motor City, as well as Swindle for his first Detroit set Thursday.
Plastician has remained a major name in grime since his UK-garage origins of the early 2000’s – before becoming a resident on Rinse.fm and BBC Radio 1. His record label, Terrorhythm, was created in 2002 with the intention of releasing only his own music, however, the label’s recent rennasaince has inspired some of the industry’s most unique future sounds.
Plastician’s production has been featured on countless records by artists, such as: Lethal Bizzle, M.I.A., The Black Ghosts, JME, Skepta, Wiley, Kosheen and others.
Swindle’s first Detroit performance is long overdue. The young DJ’s unique blend of funk, garage, and dubstep will impress the most die-hard of Detroit electronic music fans.
Thursday night’s performance will also feature performances by DJ Seoul (Detroit Techno Militia/Bang Tech 12), OktoRed (YoSucka!/Black Catalog/Wheel & Deal/ Juke Trax/Senseless), Mark Moss (Everyday Junglist/Bang Tech 12/Konkrete Jungle DET), K@DOG (Purp Stuff) and Fire Ant.
