After more than a decade, Eminem’s infamous Detroit rap-group D12 is recording new material – according to longtime Eminem producer Mark Bass.
In a feature highlighting Detroit-area recording studios by the Detroit Free Press, Bass admitted to assisting the group with recording new material. Bass’s statements to the press indicate at least three new tracks, featuring Eminem alongside former D12 band mates, are currently in production.
The turbulent past of the group’s roster has created speculation regarding who will be featured on the upcoming project. D12, which currently includes Kuniva, Swifty McVay and Fuzz Scoota, has not indicated the return of past band mates Mr. Porter or Bizarre, nor the effect that the deaths of rappers Bugz and Proof will have on the direction of the new record.
D12’s last release was 2004’s D12 World, which included “My Band,” “American Psycho II” (featuring B-Real of Cypress Hill) and “40 Oz.”
