The second annual Hamtramck Music Festival will take place from Thursday, March 5 to Sunday, March 8. A celebration of local music, the event will feature over 150 Metro Detroit bands and take place across the city in 17 of Hamtramck’s most beloved venues, including 7 Brothers, Café 1923, New Dodge Lounge, Paychecks, Rock City Eatery, Small’s Bar, and more.
All proceeds from HMF go to benefit Ben’s Encore, a nonprofit organization that provides grants to school music programs in the city of Detroit. The funding provided by Ben’s Encore ensures students have access to instruments, music lessons, and scholarships, thereby encouraging young musicians to uphold and continue Detroit’s remarkable musical legacy.
The festival’s diverse lineup features a wide array of genres, highlighting the eclectic nature of the Detroit music scene. Friday will include performances from Mexican Knives, Rebel Kind, Danny Kroha, Pewter Cub, Oblisk, Young Punk, Duane the Brand New Dog, Saturday Looks Good to Me, Junk Food Junkies, My Pal Val, The Deadly Vipers, The Potatoes, and Palaces. On Saturday, you can catch The Hentchmen, Doop & the Inside Outlaws, Pink Lightning, Wasabi Dream, Cold Men Young, Little Animal, The Vonneguts, Remnose, and Five Pound Snap.
Fowling Warehouse will host a kickoff party on Thursday beginning at 8:00 p.m., featuring performances from Rogue Satellites, Caveman Woodman with Bam Bam Moss, Six and the Sevens, Isles of ESP, Ryan Dillaha and The Miracle Men, and PRGRM.
HMF will also host a pop-up record shop at P.L.A.V. Post #10 on Sunday, March 8 from noon to 7:00 p.m. There, you can purchase records and other merchandise from bands performing at the festival. Bring your appetite, because there will be an all-you-can-eat brunch starting at 11:00 a.m. for only $6. Starting at 1:00 p.m., there will be live performances from Steve D’Angelo, Cosmic Light Shapes, Blue Pontiac, Quiet Grrrl, Carmel LiBirdie, and Bingo Mama.
Wristbands for Hamtramck Music Festival are available for $10 and provide access to all participating venues. They can be purchased online or at various local retailers.
