Bob Seger has revealed his newest radio single titled “Detroit Made,” in anticipation of his first full-length album release since 2006’s Face the Promise, titled Ride Out (October 2014).

The track was originally released by John Hiatt for his 2011 release Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns as a tribute to the American automobile industry, but more specifically – the Buick Electra 225 (known in Detroit as the “Deuce and a Quarter”). Seger’s push to make the new cover available to radio listeners was influenced by the 20th anniversary of Detroit’s Woodward Dream Cruise classic car parade, which was held along Woodward Ave. on August 16.

“I stumbled on ‘Detroit Made’ on [Sirius XM] Outlaw Country,” Seger told Billboard Magazine. “I downloaded it, and that’s a great opener for us. My initial plan was to have Kid Rock do it with me, but he was just so busy with the start of his tour that we weren’t able to do it. I thought it would be great.”

Though “Detroit Made” has not been made available for purchase, the Detroit rocker has debuted the cover during multiple live performances.
